'Red Tango'
40cm x 30cm
Oil on Canvas Board
'Red Tango' depicts two couples in a red interior that is painted in an abstract style. The figures in the foreground are created from lines and angles but show a gesture of togetherness. Where as the figures to the right, who look on, are separated. The intensity of the red symbolizes the passion of Tango and the turquoise and the white the cold light of the day when the music stops.
'Caminito Milonga'
40cm x 30cm
Oil on Canvas Board
Caminito Avenue is an La Boca, an old sector of Buenos Aires, known as the area where at the beginning of the nineteenth century migrant workers landed by sea from as far and wide as Africa and Eastern Europe. They brought with them the sounds and rhythms of their own cultures. Such a mix of varied styles and music is thought to be the origin of Tango. The brightly-painted buildings of La Boca are depicted with a Milonga taking place in the street to celebrate a fiesta. (A number of couples dancing tango is called a Milonga)
'Tango Noche'
40cm x 30cm
Oil on Canvas Board
In show tango there is often a powerful interplay between three people dancing. I have used the colour blue as a mood of the night and to signify the envy and longing of the man who stands alone. This painting expresses the dance of tango relationships and feelings of people.
